Wir waren auf Gut Petersdorf und ich habe Gisbert die Fenster über der Toreinfahrt gezeigt, wo du mit deiner Mama und deinen Geschwistern nach der Flucht wohnen durftet. Wir sind ein bißchen spazieren gegangen und irgendwie hatte ich das Gefühl, dass du ganz nah bist. Ich habe mich an die alten Geschichten erinnert. Daran, dass du im Winter auf dem Mühlengraben Schlittschuh gelaufen bist, wie du auf Bäume geklettert bist und dass der Weg zur Schule so weit war, über die Felder.
Ich habe deine alte Schule gesucht, die nur aus einer Klasse für alle Schuljahre bestand, aber leider nicht gefunden.
Wir waren am Haus deiner Mama, meiner Oma, wo sie später gelebt hat.

LONDON, Sept 28 (Reuters) – Philip Morris International (PMI) on Thursday signalled a
slower than anticipated U.S. roll out of its IQOS heated
tobacco device, a choice analysts said was positive for its competitors
in the short term.
The New York-listed Marlboro maker also said it aims for more than two thirds of its net revenues
to come from “smoke-free” products by 2030, up from 50% in 2025, as it tries to transform
its image from a cigarette purveyor to a driver of the
shift to healthier alternatives.
Investors have been closely watching IQOS’ entry
into the U.S., the world’s largest market for nicotine products,
and had been expecting it from May 2024 next year.
Reuters reported on Wednesday that PMI is hiring
lobbyists across a host of key U.S. states ahead
of the launch.
Chief Executive Jacek Olczak said IQOS would launch in four cities in two
unnamed U.S. states from 2024, but a national launch would only come after PMI
receives approval to sell the latest version, known as IQOS ILUMA.
The company was planning to apply for approval in October
and expected it from 2025, he continued.
“We need to warm up the tyres,” he said of the initial
launch, which would help PMI fine tune its approach.
A national roll-out of ILUMA would follow but in phases, he continued, adding launching in 10 states in the
first year would make sense.
Meaningful traction for PMI’s heated tobacco products in the U.S.
“now looks delayed until ILUMA,” Owen Bennett, equity analyst at Jefferies, said in a note,
adding this was a positive for PMI’s rivals.
Olczak also signalled that PMI’s push into non-nicotine products was no longer a priority.
It recently scrapped an ambition for $1 billion in net revenues to come from sales of
such products by 2025.
Instead, PMI will focus its resources on IQOS and nicotine
pouch brand ZYN, Olczak said, adding it had been too optimistic around
acceptance of big tobacco companies operating outside of nicotine.
PMI also announced updated medium-term targets including for revenue and earnings per share, and ambitious volume targets
for IQOS and ZYN.
ZYN and other oral nicotine products in the U.S. would help drive an expected $2 billion in revenues there in 2024,
even before IQOS ILUMA, executives said.

July 23 (Reuters) – Philip Morris International pushed
the test-launch of its heated tobacco device, IQOS, in the U.S.
to the fourth quarter on Tuesday and lowered its annual forecast for the heated tobacco business.
The pilot was earlier scheduled to run in Austin, Texas,
in the second quarter, for which the company reported results
on the day.
The company declined to comment on why the launch had been delayed.
Philip Morris has invested billions to promote and expand its portfolio of alternatives to traditional combustible cigarettes amid stricter regulations and falling smoking rates in some markets.
The launch of its flagship heated tobacco device in the United States
is also facing resistance from health campaigners, who have
written to regulators in the country accusing the company of misrepresenting past regulatory decisions, Reuters reported last week.
The company also awaits market authorization from
the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for its IQOS ILUMA device, which it
expects by the second half of 2025.
A ban on flavored heated tobacco in the European Union has
already hit shipments this year, with Philip Morris saying the impact from the ban was “slightly greater” than previously assumed.
This led the company to temper its expectations for volume growth
in the heated tobacco category to around 13% for the full year, down from between 14% and 16% expected earlier.
However, Philip Morris topped quarterly expectations and raised its annual
sales and profit forecasts, betting on demand for its Zyn nicotine pouches,

Australians are forking out hundreds of dollars more for their health insurance as companies exploit a loophole allowing them to hike costs
for some customers.
Private health insurers are only allowed to raise their premiums once a year, and each increase must be
approved by the federal health minister.
But a report from the Commonwealth Ombudsman revealed some companies are getting around
this through a practice known as “product phoenixing”.
It involves discontinuing a policy for new customers and launching a nearly
identical one at a higher cost.
Millions of Australians have fallen victim to insurers’
secret premium increases, with the average new customer paying $38
more each month in premiums and $184 more in excess fees,
according to one analysis.
Health Minister Mark Butler called the practice a “sleight of hand” that makes it harder for customers to move from insurer to insurer,
limiting their choices.
“It is clearly against the spirit of the law and it is an under-handed, largely secret, way of health insurers raising their prices,” he told reporters
in Canberra on Monday.
“If two members of an existing fund with essentially the same product are paying prices that might be 20 per cent different … you have to describe that as price gouging.”
This was particularly prevalent in “gold” tier insurance policies, which are generally used by those who want to
access services such as maternity and mental health care.
In one example, an insurer closed existing gold policies before opening essentially identical ones in 2023 at prices 21 per cent higher than the average premium of
the old policy.
The insurer repeated the practice in 2024 when they released a product that was 14 per cent more expensive.
To some, the revelations are not unexpected.
“Is anyone surprised insurance companies are gouging their members like they gouge hospitals?” Australian Private Hospitals
Association chief executive Brett Heffernan said.
“Enough is enough.
“It’s time the federal health minister engaged in the hospital crisis,
which is burning around him.”
Mr Heffernan says insurers have raked in billions in profit and short-changed hospitals while public waiting lists are ballooning and private hospitals are closing their doors because insurance companies are “breaking their pact” to fully fund members’ care.
Mr Butler said health insurers operate with significant support from taxpayers – from both members’ contributions and from the private health insurance rebate through billions in taxes.
He called on the industry to clean up its act or face consequences.
“They need to respect that social licence and this sort of practice damages that,” Mr Butler said.
“I want to give them a chance to do the right thing, but that chance won’t be open forever.
“If there’s not some clear indication of a change of practice by insurance companies, then I will take legislative action.”
Peak industry body Private Healthcare Australia has committed
to working with the government to examine its issues but noted it was difficult
to provide affordable products as the population ages and inflation grows.
“When health funds cancel products, it is usually because those products are making a loss,” it said in a statement.
“When more expensive policies are created, the pricing reflects the underlying cost of healthcare, which is increasing every year in an inflationary environment.”

Meanwhile, the Irish Times’ Donald Clarke gave the movie just two stars but credited Phillips’ work for making a sequel following the first movie’s $1billion success.
Financial Times critic Danny Leigh said although Gaga worked hard to
bump the ratings up in the sequel, Phillips appeared to
have no idea what to do with her.
Giving a three star rating, The Guardian’s Peter Bradshaw claimed the movie proves
‘claustrophobic’ and ‘repetitive.’
